We're seeking a dedicated Controller to lead financial operations, maintain accurate financial records, and provide crucial support for the organization’s growth and success. This is a hands-on role, perfect for an experienced accounting professional who’s skilled in managing financial reporting, ensuring compliance, and driving process improvements. As Controller, you’ll be instrumental in creating financial clarity and stability, while supporting a team aligned with a meaningful mission.

Key Responsibilities

General Accounting and Financial Operations

  • Oversee general accounting functions, adhering to GAAP standards.
  • Manage the general ledger, prepare balance sheets, income statements, and profit & loss statements, and conduct monthly account reconciliation.
  • Update and organize accounting records, including registers, ledgers, and journals.
  • Reconcile financial operations by verifying source documents (invoices, expense vouchers), ensuring accurate financial records.
  • Document financial transactions and analyze data to make informed recommendations.

Reporting and Documentation

  • Prepare weekly cash flow statements and control expenditures to optimize cash flow.
  • Contribute to year-end account preparation, statutory accounts, and special financial reports, utilizing account analysis to identify trends.
  • Maintain and update spreadsheets, databases, and accounting software for comprehensive financial recordkeeping.

Compliance and Controls

  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial regulations, advising management on necessary actions.
  • Develop and recommend policies and procedures to maintain accounting controls.
  • Uphold financial security through strong internal controls and protect sensitive information.

Process Improvement and Cost Management

  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes, reduce costs, and improve margins.
  • Help establish best practices within accounting and finance operations to optimize efficiency.

Collaboration and Mentorship

  • Coordinate with accounts payable, payroll departments, and external financial institutions for account verification and reconciliation.
  • Provide supervision and guidance to accounting staff, fostering a collaborative, growth-oriented environment.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field; CPA certification required.
  • 5–7+ years of experience in a relevant accounting role.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles.
  • Proficiency with accounting and financial planning software, along with the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to handle multiple priorities effectively.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality regarding financial information.

This is a full-time, on-site position based in Austin, Texas, with standard Monday through Friday hours.
